URCA MATS FAQ
Everything you need to know about URCA mats.
We intentionally chose 4.5 mm as our core thickness after decades of combined yoga and fitness experience.
It’s the perfect balance between comfort, stability, and weight.
4.5 mm gives you:
• enough cushioning to protect knees and wrists
• a stable, grounded feel for balance and standing postures
• a manageable weight that you can easily carry with you
No unnecessary bulk. No compromise in performance. Just the thickness that works best for real practice.
We also offer a 1.5 mm travel version.
It’s lightweight, foldable, and ideal if you travel often or want a hygienic layer to place on top of mats in public studios and gyms.
Our mats are intentionally longer and wider than standard to give you space to move, extend, and breathe without feeling restricted.
If you are tall or enjoy expansive transitions, you’ll appreciate the extra room.
The travel version is designed to be full-length but ultra-light and foldable, so it fits easily into a backpack or carry-on.
We use natural rubber as the base and offer four different surface options: PU, coir, cork and microfiber.
No PVC. No cheap foams. No toxic additives.
Every material is selected for performance, durability, and feel under the body.
Each combination is designed to give you grip, stability, and a premium practice experience.
Yes. Our mats are PVC-free and made with natural rubber, which biodegrades much faster than PVC, a material that can take decades or even centuries to break down.
All our designs are created using eco-printing techniques and/or laser engraving, allowing us to achieve rich colors, bold graphics, and high-definition details without polluting processes.
Sustainability has not come at the expense of design.
We believe your mat should reflect your personality and energy, so we’ve developed products that are both responsible and visually powerful.
Yes, each surface is designed to support a different style of practice.
PU (Polyurethane)
Strong, immediate grip that increases as you warm up.
Ideal for hot yoga, sweaty practices, fast flows, and anyone who wants maximum traction from the first pose.
Coir (Coconut Fiber)
Naturally textured, breathable, and antibacterial.
Excellent dry grip that becomes even more confident with light moisture. Perfect for those who love a grounded, earthy feel.
Cork (100%Natural Cork)
Naturally grippy, firm, and temperature stable. Cork offers excellent dry grip and improves progressively with light moisture. Antibacterial by nature and comfortable under pressure, it’s ideal for controlled practices, strength focused training, and anyone who prefers a grounded, stable feel. As you warm up, traction becomes more confident without feeling sticky.
Microfiber (Suede-like)
Soft and smooth to the touch, designed to activate with moisture.
The more you sweat, the more it grips. Great for hot yoga, power flows, and dynamic practices.
For dry practices, a light water spray enhances traction.
Absolutely.
Strong grip, balanced cushioning, stable support, and non-toxic materials make our mats very beginner-friendly.
They give you confidence from your first Downward Dog to your first arm balance.
With proper care, our mats are designed to be your practice companion for years.
Natural rubber is a living, biodegradable material, so it will age naturally over time. This does not affect performance.
We see wear not as damage, but as the story of your practice.
Natural rubber has a characteristic scent when new.
It is completely harmless and will fade within days or weeks.
Simply unroll the mat and let it air out, avoiding direct sun.
Our mats are produced in China, where we lived and worked for over 20 years.
We collaborate only with trusted partners and personally visit factories to evaluate new suppliers, review materials, and ensure ethical working conditions.
Before every shipment, we are on site to carry out quality control checks, verifying that each mat meets our standards in performance, finish, and durability.
This direct involvement allows us to combine the excellence of Asian manufacturing with European design sensibility and yogi-level attention to detail.
Everything is made responsibly, transparently, and with deep respect for craftsmanship.
Our natural rubber mats are biodegradable and free from PVC.
At the end of their life, they can be repurposed as cushioning, kneeling pads, pet mats, or for DIY projects.
After practice, wipe the mat with a soft cloth and water or a gentle mat spray.
For a deeper clean, use a mild natural soap diluted in water.
Let the mat air dry completely before rolling it up.
Avoid:
• essential oils directly on the mat
• harsh detergents
• rough sponges
• direct sun or heat
No.
Machine washing damages natural rubber and PU.
Hand cleaning only, simple, quick, and much better for the lifespan of your mat.
A light wipe after each practice is ideal.
A deeper clean every few weeks is enough for most people.
If you practice outdoors or sweat heavily, clean slightly more often.
